Give the gift of cheese:
You have maybe noticed that I’ve been quiet on social media this year. My phone is full of hundreds, if not thousands of photos that I had been meaning to share and half written posts that never got published, so what gives?
…..I had a visitor drop in with the gift of cheese. Cheese is always welcome but it’s the story behind the gift that made me reconsider my future as “Farmer Tim”. My visitor (now friend) was having a hard year of his own. He got emotional as briefly told me about his struggles and I choked back a few tears of my own. He told me that it was my humour, positivity and sharing my challenges so publicly that kept him going throughout the year.
His kindness and braveness resonated deeply within me. We seldom know the impacts we make on others by what we say and do, but this time it was clear that I had made a difference in another life.
So looking back through 2024, I began to remember similar events – a woman who claimed that one of my posts saved her life, an activist who apologized for adding stress to an already stressful life, a farm family grateful for me helping them through tragedy, a widow thankful for the agricultural advice I gave after the loss of her farmer husband, a young farmer who I helped mentor into the world of farming, giving peace of mind to the worries of countless urban neighbours……Your words make a difference. They can hurt, but they can also heal. We may never know the differences we make in the world by our deeds and actions but trust me – you are making a difference- one person at a time.
Give the gift of cheese but always give it with love in your heart 🧀 ❤️
A special shout out to my friend at New Galma Dairy. You need to try their Gouda! It’s amazing! ❤️ 🇨🇦 🥛
